Journal Five

Hi EME2040 friends! What a great week it has been in this wonderful class. This week, we all got to tour the tech sandbox, which was very insightful and entertaining. What is one tool that you guys hope to use in your future classrooms? I personally hope to have access to a SmartBoard or even the coding tools.
Last week, we were introduced to a tool called Diigo. Diigo is a tool that lets you bookmark and annotate web pages to share with peers for use in discussion and personal development. So far, I really like the tool! I think it can be so useful for teachers to use together in finding sources to help develop a better education to give students. I have it downloaded on my personal computer, and the only real thing that I dislike is that it is a little distracting when I use my computer for personal use. I do like that I can make comments on any page I see so I can keep little notes and make sure I understand the resource to the best of my ability.
On another hand, this is now the fifth week that I have been using this blog! This is such an exciting tool to use because I have always wanted to be a blog owner and now I have one and get to talk about some of my learning experiences. My favorite thing about the blog space is that we all get to share our personal experiences and everyone in the class can read and comment on whatever we post. Blogging teaches me ways to keep up with and remember everything I learn and how to take value in being able to note what I learn. I don't really think that there is anything that I actually find wrong with this blogging process.
In addition, in class we have been discussing Web 2.0 tools. Web 2.0 tools are focused on collaboration and sharing information with peers on the web space. One of the tools that I associate with the Web 2.0 Idea are the Google Tools, such as Google Drive. Google Drive allows students to store files in a cloud space, as well as share, edit, and comment upon other files. I think this could be very productive in the classroom because students are both able to create their own tools, but also share and comment on other tools with peers. Teachers are also able to give comments on student work.
That's all I have for this week! Talk to you next time!
